Prison School and Freedom School
Prison School and Freedom
School
People
all over the world know that the United States and China are countries which
really focus on their education, but they have
two completely different systems. Before coming to the United States, my grandmother who
has lived in the United States for twenty
years already told me that I can get a
completely different education in the United States, but I did not believe her.
Since I came to the United States, I
have changed my mind. I have realized that the education here is more suitable
for me, and the education has changed my life.
The
first significant change is that I do not need to be a school dog. I used to believe that schools should force
students to learn what they need, and students should always follow teachers;
in addition, the students should stay in schools all the time. In China, I had
to live at school six days a week, therefore, I
did not have time to do anything I wanted to do.
The school was like a prison. I had to do everything on time, and I could not have my own life. I had to follow the rules, and I could not
do anything which would break the rules. These rules made me feel like a dog. Being a student in
Chicago is very different. Having a part time job is not a joke anymore. I can
do everything after finishing my homework. I have never felt under pressure in
the classes and I do not need to be
nervous if I make some mistakes. I feel relaxed in classes, and it makes me have
more motivation to learn.
With the changed education,
my life also has changed. For example, I can have my part time job so I can
earn money by myself. I no longer have to
rely on my family. I have become independent. Another example is that I am passionate about playing
basketball. Since I have become a student in Chicago, I have more time to
practice my basketball skills. I have made a lot of friends from working a part time job and playing
basketball. I have also become healthier due to
spending more time exercising.
Thinking about my great future is my routine now, and I am sure I will be
outstanding man from learning in Chicago education.
All in all, I am so
happy to get a different education. Learning in Chicago not only has affected
me in the classroom, but also in my life. Accepting this different education
has really changed my life. I have become a really independent man from being a
student in Chicago. Although my school life in China was a hard period for me, sometimes I still miss it. However, I know I can get better life and
education in Chicago.

Hello, Jason.
ReplyDeleteI believe that you show what your life will be better in Chicago and you feel happy in the United States. In addition, I admit that you feel more free in study here than China. Conversely, I think every country has many problems by their own, but it not represents the policy is absolutely horrible. You must know how many population are in China. If you compete with 10 people in the United States, thus you might compete with 40 people in China. It represents that we don't have enough space and time to select a relaxing education, at least your generation. I know our education is terrible to young people, and I don't like it as same as you. but I don't think my education is useless. I might offend you, but it is not my mean. I just express my opinion to you, peace and love, bro!
Hi Jason,
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you compared the two education systems. The part where you said you don’t need to be a “school dog” anymore really stood out to me. I also feel more relaxed and motivated here. Do you ever miss anything about your old school in China? For me, I sometimes miss the structure, but I also love the freedom here.
Hey Jason,
ReplyDeleteYou mentioned that you sometimes still miss your school life in China even though it was hard. What is the thing you miss the most—your friends, the food, or the routine?
Hello, Jason. Your essay clearly explains the difference between the education system in China and in the United States. It is interesting to see how the new system gives you more freedom and opportunities.
