More Than a Name

              My name is Aliaksandra, and I am very proud that my mother gave me this name. I think Aliaksandra is a very strong and beautiful name that is popular in every countries. Originally,  Aliaksandra is a Greek name, but it is very common in Slavic countries because many queens and kings   had this name. My mom named me Aliaksandra because it sounds intelligent and beautiful to her. 

I am from Belarus and in my country we have short versions of the name Aliaksandra which is   Sasha, but I do not see any connection between two of them. This is not formal and friendly pronoun, so  I hate it. I have a lot of friends in my country who prefer Sasha, but I do not agree with them. 

The official language in my country is Russian, but my grandfather prefers to use our original   language Belarusian. This is the language of our ancestors. He called me Lexandra, which is the   Belarusian version of my name. This sounds very lovely to me. 

I am very proud and happy to have my name because it sounds really beautiful to me, and I am   happy to be who I am.

Hiding Myself

 Lei Bi           I often hang out and drank with my friends when I was in China, and we not only talked about anything, but also there was nobody offended by us when we talked in English. However, when I arrived the United States, the situation changed. I was so nervous and looked around if there were Americans while who were looking at me because I saying a word in Chinese might make many Americans in general confused.
